2025: Develop a multi-year AI strategy (gbl biopharma)

Developed the first AI strategy for a Global Medical Information department in a leading biopharma. With no prior AI experience, the team was guided through landscape scanning, internal alignment, and vendor selection — resulting in a new HCP chatbot and two AI agents for case and response handling, aligned to the department’s multi-year strategy.

Led the creation of the first AI strategy for the Global Medical Information department of a major biopharmaceutical company — a team that had previously undertaken no AI work at all. The initiative began by building understanding and alignment across stakeholders, scanning the external landscape for emerging medical information AI solutions, and mapping what other internal departments were already doing on their AI roadmaps to ensure cohesion and avoid duplication.

Collaborating closely with the companies own small AI capability, the project developed a multi-year roadmap fully aligned with the department’s overarching strategy, existing processes, people, and systems. The emphasis was on practical, scalable use cases that could genuinely improve efficiency, compliance, and the accessibility of medical knowledge across the organisation.

Through structured assessment and engagement with external technology vendors, the strategy culminated in the selection of a new healthcare professional (HCP) chatbot and two AI-driven agents to automate case intake and response document handling — all scheduled for delivery within 18 months.

This landmark programme positioned the department to confidently adopt AI for the first time, transforming its operational model and setting a new benchmark for digital innovation within global Medical Affairs.
